Mhlaka 24 ku Nkwenkwezi ngomnyaka ka 1738 yimbali yeMethodist. Yilo ilanga elaletha inguquko eyaba khona ngokuzwisisa kuka John Wesley ngokusindiswa langendaba zomoya. Ilanga leli likhangelwa njengelanga ‘lokuzalwa’ kohlelo lweMethodist. Kulapho njengamaMethodist esithola khona isikhathi kuviki yokucina kaNkwenkwezi minyaka yonke ukuze sicabange, sijulise ingqondo ngokuqakatheka kwalelilanga lalokhu okwenzakala ngemva kwalokhu. ‘Nginika abatshumayeli abalikhulu abangesabi lutho ngaphandle kwesono, abangafuni lutho ngaphandle kukaNkulunkulu, njalo angilandaba kumbe ngabafundisi kumbe ngabatshumayeli; labo bodwa banganyikinya amasango egehena njalo bakhe umbuso kaNkulunkulu emhlabeni.’-John Wesley.

UJohn Wesley njengommeli kaKristu wammela kuhle uKristu, okokuthi ukhangelelwe njengesibonelo esihle hatshi kubandla leMethodist lodwa, kodwa emabandleni wonke amakholwa. Wayezimisele kakhulu ekukholweni kuNkulunkulu, njalo kudingeka ukuthi kube lobungcwele kubo bonke abantu abafelwa nguKristu. ‘Ngafundela konke okwesi Kristu kumama kulabantu abazi ngezenkolo Engilandi’ John Wesley.
Ngokutshumayela, uJohn Wesley wagqugquzelwa kakhulu ngunina uSusanna Wesley okokuthi uSusanna uthathwa njengomama weMethodism. USusanna wayekhokhela inkonzo yokudumisa emzini wakhe lapho umkakhe engekho, eyayingenwa ngomakhelwane. UJohn Welsey wananzelela uthando lukanina njengomuntu owakhokhela inkonzo yokudumisa leyemfundiso.
USusanna wabhala inkonzo yokholo lwabaphostoli olujulileyo, wafundisa abantwana bakhe ngokholo njalo waphumelela kulokhu. Lokhu kwenza uJohn Wesley waqiniseka ngamandla abesifazana ekuqhubeni lekusekeleni imisebenzi kaNkulunkulu. Waba ngumngane wabancane, abadala, abathatheneyo, abangathathwanga, abaphakameyo labayanga. Umlobi wencwadi yesibili kuTimothi ukhumbuza uTimothi ngendima omama abayidlalileyo, njengonina logogo wakhe, okholweni lwakhe. Ngezinye indlela umlobi uthi yena uTimothi wathola imfundiso eqakathekileyo kanye lokholo kulaba omama bobabili. Ngabe kungabanga lokholo lemfundiso yalaba omama, uTimothi ngabe kazange afike lapho abakhona, ngakho omama baqakathekile, balamandla njalo bathembekile ukuba ngabammeli bakaKristu emakhaya abo lasephuluphuthini.

ILANGA LESITHATHU ISIHLOKO: IBANDLA ELIKHONZA NDAWONYE –AMAHAMENTE

“Ukutshumayela njengo mphostoli, ungahlanganisanga ndawonye labo abaphendukileyo ubafundise ngendlela kaNkulunkulu, kufana lokukhulisa umntwana ukuthi abulawe.” John Wesley.
Amahamente kubandla leMethodist anika isisekelo esiqinileyo ngokuqala kwebandla “leMethodist Movement” ukupha ubufakazi ngoJesu Kristu emhlabeni jikelele, njalo lokulandela imfundiso zakhe ngokuba lesihelo, lokumela iqiniso, ukudumisa lokuzinikela uholwa nguMoya Oyingcwele. Amahamente ngokunye kwensika encedisileyo ekuqineni kwebandla leMethodist kusukela ngo1742. UJohn Wesley ubekholelwa ukuthi izeluleko, ingxabano, lezinqumo kungenziwa ngokupheleleyo langokuthula emihlanganweni yamahamente.

- Ukunika ubufakazi bukaJesu Kristu emhlabeni, lokulandela imfundiso ngemisebenzi yesihawu, ukumela iqiniso, ukudumisa, lokuzinikela uholwa nguMoya Oyingcwele.
- Ukuncedisa amalunga ukuthi akhule njalo amazi uJesu Kristu njalo afunde ukuphila impilo elobuKristu.
Sekubonakele impumela emangalisayo ebibonakala ngokungena kwabantu amahamente, uJohn Wesley wabhala wathi,” Ngemva kokucabanga, ngiyabona, ukuthi lokhu yikho sibili [amahemente]
okwakukhona ekuqaleni kwesiKristu. Esikhathini sakuqala, kulabo uNkulunkulu ayebathume ngaphambilini, batshumayela ivangeli kuzinanakazana zonke. …Kodwa kwathi ezinye zalezi sezithole iqiniso, njengokutshiya isono njalo lokudinga ivangeli losindiso, babahlanganisa ndawonye masinyane, babhala phansi amabizo abo, babaxwayisa ukuthi babeluse (Imisebenzi kaJohn Wesley, 1831:177). Amahamente ahle aba luphawu lweMethodist njengoba elesisekelo sombhalo. (Ibhayibhili) phakathi kuka 1745 lo 1748 uJohn Wesley lenhlanganiso yakhe yeMethodist movement bayekethisa amahamente izinto zaqala ukungahambi kuhle. UJohn Wesley wayezwisisa ukuthi olunye uphawu lweqiniso lwamakholwa ngolokupha ngesihle. AmaMethodist akaboni isidingo asuke engasigcwalisanga. Kuntshumayelo yakhe ethi “The Use of Money” Ukusetshenziswa Kwemali, UJohn Wesley watshengisa izimiso ezintathu okumele zilandelwe lapho umuntu emele abelobudlelwano obuhle loNkulunkulu la bantu wathi, “thola konke okwenelisayo, ulondoloze konke okwenelisayo njalo unike konke okwenelisayo.”

Etshengisa ukwesaba kwakhe, wabhala mhlaka 4 kuNcwabakazi 1786 ukuthi, ‘Angesabi ukuthi abantu ababizwa ngokuthi ngamaMethodist bazaphila kunaphakade eYuropu kumbe eAmelika. Kodwa ngiyesaba, ukuthi bazaphila nje njengeqembu elifileyo, belesimo sokukholwa kodwa bengela mandla. Ngoba lokhu yikho okuzakwenzakala, ngaphandle kokuthi babambelele kumfundiso, kamoya Kanye lokuziphatha abaqala bekulandela.’
UJohn Wesley wayekhangelele ukuthi inotho lokwehluleka yikho okuzasinika uhlupho olukhulu kunhlanganiso yamaMethodist njalo lokholo nje jikelele, njalo lakulabo abazasala lalamhla kuMCZ. Ngo 1789 uJohn Wesley wananzelela ukuthi amaMethodist sebekwazi okubili kuzimiso ezintathu, basebethola konke abakwenelisayo, begcina konke abekwenelisayo, kodwa belohlupho ngokwesithathu. Nxa umuntu ubengakhangela eduze umumo esikuwo khathesi ebandleni le MCZ ubengakuvuma lokhu, njengoba kwakunjalo kudala ngensuku zika John Wesley ezokugcina, abanengi babe njalo balokhu begcina izimiso ezimbili zakuqala ezokuthola lo kulondoloza kodwa balohlupho ngokwesithathu.

Ukuzihlola kuyadingeka kithi sonke singakaphuzi kakhulu. Ngalendaba uJohn Wesley wabhala wathi,’njengoba kungelalutho olungaba sobala kakhulu ngaphandle kokuthi sonke silandele imithetho eyakuqala ngaphandle kowesithathu, ukona kwethu kuyabe sekuphindwe kabili kulakuqala.’ Ukuzinikela ekunikeleni kukaJohn Wesley kwakufanana empilweni yakhe yonke. Nxa singamaMethodist aqotho njalo amakholwa aleqiniso, kumele silandele enyaweni zakhe.

ILANGA LESIHLANU ISIHLOKO: UKUTSHUMAYELA LOKUDUMISA NGOKUHLABELELA

Laloba abantu bakudala bakoIsrayeli babesabela ngokuthi uNkulunkulu ungubani lokuthi wenzeni ngamahubo lokugida, kunjalo lakuMethodist ngendaba zokuhlabela. Isihlabelelo seMethodist siluhlelo lwamahubo atshengisa ukholo lwethu ukuthi uNkulunkulu ngubani, lalokhu azabe ekwenza kithi njalo aqhubeka ekwenza. Lokhu kwakunjalo kusukela kudala eminyakeni yama1700. UCharles Wesley waye ngumlobi omkhulu wengoma njalo ingoma zakhe zilokhu zisetshenziswa ekudumiseni enkonzweni zalamhla, konke ngesilungu langesintu. Izingoma lezi ziyaqinisa ukholo lemfundiso zenhlanganiso yeMethodist.
Ukuhlabela luphawu oluqakathekileyo lokutshumayela, ngoba kuncedisa intshumayelo.
Kunjalo, njengoba kuphawuliwe ekuqaleni, lokhu akuqalanga ngoCharles. Leli lilifa alithatha kubokhokho bokholo, njengakuIsrayeli endala, njalo laqhutshwa kuzizukulwane, kuze kufike kusikhathi sethu. Ngokunjalo, ukutshumayela lokuhlabelela kuyafana nje lokutshumayela. Kuyasetshenziswa ezimfeni, emitshadweni, lapho kuvulwa amatshe ukuqamba nje okulutshwana.
Amaphimbo lamazwi ezingoma enza ukholo lwethu lukhumbulekhe. Izingoma zithinta umphefumulo. Kwesinye isikhathi uJohn Wesley wathi yena lapho ekhuthaza abantu ababizwa ngokuthi ngamaMethodist ukuthi bahlabele ngobucikho langomoya, “hlabela okulomvutho langesibindi esiqotho. Nanzelela ungahlabeli angazathi ufile kumbe ulele. Ungaklabalali ukuze uzwiwe ngaphezulu kwabantu bonke ebandleni kodwa lwisa ukuthi amazwi enu wonke ahambelane ndawonye.”
Ukuhlabelela kulendlela yokungena kuhlabe umxhwele kuveze imizwa yethu lendlela uNkulunkulu asebenza ngayo ebandleni. Ukuhlabela kuyahlanganisa ibandla.

“Ungumuntu na? UNkulunkulu ukwenze waba ngumuntu; kodwa wena uzenza inyamazana. Utshiyana ngaphi lenyamazana umuntu? Akusikho kakhulu ekucabangeni lase kuzwisiseni na? Kodwa wena ulahla konke ukucabanga olakho. Uyazikhipha ukuzwisisa. Izidakamizwa ludubo osoludabule inhlalo yabantu, ukukholwa, ezemnotho njalo lemfundiso ephathelane lempilo yabantu. Ibandla lalo liphakathi kobubi lobu. ‘Ukholo luthando ku Nkulunkulu lakumakhelwane, kusitsho kuye wonke umuntu emhlabeni.’ – John Wesley
UJohn Wesley wafinyeza ukuphila kwesi Kristu ngemithetho emithathu elula, ethi, ‘ungalimazi, yenza okuhle, njalo hlala ethandweni loNkulunkulu.’ Okuqakathekileyo kulesi isifinqo sika John Wesley yikuthi nxa ungenzi okwesithathu, ukuhlala othandweni lukaNkulunkulu, awusoze ubelamandla okwenza okunye lokhu okubili.’ Lokhu kutshengisa ukuthi uthando luqakatheke kanganani. Luyasenelisa njalo luvule izindlela zokwenelisa zonke ezinye izinto.
Intshumayelo zikaJohn Wesley eziqakathekileyo zazingezothando lukaNkulunkulu. Zazifudumeza inhliziyo ezibandayo. UJohn Wesley wathi, ‘Nxa sikhangela ngethemba kuKristu uthando lukaNkulunkulu luyathululelwa enhliziyweni zethu ngoMoya Oyingcwele. Ngakho singaletha inhliziyo zethu ngothando kuNkulunkulu, lakubangane, lebantwini jikelele lakuzitha zethu. Ukuba lothando kuNkulunkulu kutsho ukumnika lokho okumfaneleyo, okuluthando.’
Ukuba sothandweni loNkulunkulu, kumele sibe lesikhathi elizwini lakhe. Nxa umuntu ehlala elizwini likaNkulunkulu, kwanda ukukhulumisana laye. Ukukhuleka lakho kuqakathekile njengoba kuyindlela esikhuluma ngayo loNkulunkulu. UJobe wahlala elizwini likaNkulunkulu ngakho wayesethandweni loNkulunkulu, okwenza wanganyikinywa ngesikhathi senhlupho zakhe ngoba uthando lunqoba konke.
Ukuhlala othandweni loNkulunkulu;
- Lungisa ubudlelwano bakho loNkulunkulu.
- Lungiselela inhliziyo elokubonga kuNkulunkulu.
- Qeda isikhathi esiqondileyo udumisa, utshengisa ukubonga kuye.
Khangela uthando lukaNkulunkulu njengencwadi yothando
- Bala ilizwi lakhe ukhangelele ukuzwa lokubona okutsha okusuka kuNkulunkulu.
- Buza uMoya Oyingcwele imibuzo.
UMCABANGO Thanda uNkulunkulu ngoba yena wakuthanda kuqala ngothando olunaphakade. Uthando lwethu kuNkulunkulu lukhula lapho siludlulisela kwabanye. Umuntu othanda abanye abantu uthanda uNkulunkulu. Ungomunye wethu yini othanda uNkulunkulu?
