Immortal, invisible.
I know that my Redeemer lives.
Dear Lord and Father of mankind.
Christ from whom all blessings flow.
Revive thy work O Lord.
A charge to keep I have.

Sermon:

Bible readings:
Psalm 69
7 It is for your sake alone
that I am insulted and blush with shame.
8 I am like a stranger to my relatives
and like a foreigner to my own family.
9 My love for your house burns in me like a fire,
and when others insulted you,
they insulted me as well.
10 I cried and went without food,
but they still insulted me.
11 They sneered at me for wearing sackcloth
to show my sorrow.
12 Rulers and judges gossip about me,
and drunkards make up songs to mock me.
13 But I pray to you, LORD.
So when the time is right, answer me
and help me with your wonderful love.
14 Don’t let me sink in the mud,
but save me from my enemies
and from the deep water.
15 Don’t let me be swept away by a flood
or drowned in the ocean or swallowed by death.
16 Answer me, LORD! You are kind and good.
Pay attention to me! You are truly merciful.
17 Don’t turn away from me.
I am your servant, and I am in trouble.
Please hurry and help!
18 Come and save me from my enemies.

Jeremiah 20
7 You tricked me, LORD, and I was really fooled.
You are stronger than I am, and you have defeated me.
People never stop sneering and insulting me.
8 You have let me announce only destruction and death.
Your message has brought me nothing but insults
and trouble.
9 Sometimes I tell myself not to think about you, LORD,
or even mention your name.
But your message burns in my heart and bones,
and I cannot keep silent.
10 I heard the crowds whisper, “Everyone is afraid.
Now’s our chance to accuse Jeremiah!”
All of my so-called friends
are just waiting for me to make a mistake.
They say, “Maybe Jeremiah can be tricked.
Then we can overpower him and get even at last.”
11 But you, LORD, are a mighty soldier, standing at my side.
Those troublemakers will fall down and fail
terribly embarrassed, forever ashamed.
12 LORD All-Powerful, you test those who do right,
and you know every heart and mind.
I have told you my complaints,
so let me watch you take revenge on my enemies.
13 I sing praises to you, LORD.
You rescue the oppressed from the wicked.

Romans 6
1b Should we keep on sinning, so that God’s wonderful kindness will show up even better? 2 No, we should not! If we are dead to sin, how can we go on sinning? 3 Don’t you know that all who share in Christ Jesus by being baptized also share in his death? 4 When we were baptized, we died and were buried with Christ. We were baptized, so that we would live a new life, as Christ was raised to life by the glory of God the Father.
5 If we shared in Jesus’ death by being baptized, we will be raised to life with him. 6 We know that the persons we used to be were nailed to the cross with Jesus. This was done, so that our sinful bodies would no longer be the slaves of sin. 7 We know that sin doesn’t have power over dead people.
8 As surely as we died with Christ, we believe we will also live with him. 9 We know that death no longer has any power over Christ. He died and was raised to life, never again to die. 10 When Christ died, he died for sin once and for all. But now he is alive, and he lives only for God. 11 In the same way, you must think of yourselves as dead to the power of sin. But Christ Jesus has given life to you, and you live for God.

Matthew 10
24 Disciples are not better than their teacher, and slaves are not better than their master. 25 It is enough for disciples to be like their teacher and for slaves to be like their master. If people call the head of the family Satan, what will they say about the rest of the family?
26 Don’t be afraid of anyone! Everything that is hidden will be found out, and every secret will be known. 27 Whatever I say to you in the dark, you must tell in the light. And you must announce from the housetops whatever I have whispered to you. 28 Don’t be afraid of people. They can kill you, but they cannot harm your soul. Instead, you should fear God who can destroy both your body and your soul in hell. 29 Aren’t two sparrows sold for only a penny? But your Father knows when any one of them falls to the ground. 30 Even the hairs on your head are counted. 31 So don’t be afraid! You are worth much more than many sparrows.
32 If you tell others that you belong to me, I will tell my Father in heaven that you are my followers. 33 But if you reject me, I will tell my Father in heaven that you don’t belong to me.
34 Don’t think that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came to bring trouble, not peace. 35 I came to turn sons against their fathers, daughters against their mothers, and daughters-in-law against their mothers-in-law. 36 Your worst enemies will be in your own family.
37 If you love your father or mother or even your sons and daughters more than me, you are not fit to be my disciples. 38 And unless you are willing to take up your cross and come with me, you are not fit to be my disciples. 39 If you try to save your life, you will lose it. But if you give it up for me, you will surely find it.
