Psalm 104
24 Our LORD, by your wisdom you made so many things;
the whole earth is covered with your living creatures.
25 But what about the ocean so big and wide?
It is alive with creatures, large and small.
26 And there are the ships, as well as Leviathan,
the monster you created to splash in the sea.
27 All of these depend on you to provide them with food,
28 and you feed each one with your own hand,
until they are full.
29 But when you turn away, they are terrified;
when you end their life, they die and rot.
30 You created all of them by your Spirit,
and you give new life to the earth.
31 Our LORD, we pray that your glory will last forever
and that you will be pleased
with what you have done.
32 You look at the earth, and it trembles.
You touch the mountains, and smoke goes up.
33 As long as I live,
I will sing and praise you, the LORD God.
34 I hope my thoughts will please you,
because you are the one who makes me glad.
35b With all my heart I praise you, LORD! I praise you!

Acts 2
1 On the day of Pentecost all the LORD’S followers were together in one place. 2 Suddenly there was a noise from heaven like the sound of a mighty wind! It filled the house where they were meeting. 3 Then they saw what looked like fiery tongues moving in all directions, and a tongue came and settled on each person there. 4 The Holy Spirit took control of everyone, and they began speaking whatever languages the Spirit let them speak.
5 Many religious Jews from every country in the world were living in Jerusalem. 6 And when they heard this noise, a crowd gathered. But they were surprised, because they were hearing everything in their own languages. 7 They were excited and amazed, and said:
Don’t all these who are speaking come from Galilee? 8 Then why do we hear them speaking our very own languages? 9 Some of us are from Parthia, Media, and Elam. Others are from Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia, 10 Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, parts of Libya near Cyrene, Rome, 11 Crete, and Arabia. Some of us were born Jews, and others of us have chosen to be Jews. Yet we all hear them using our own languages to tell the wonderful things God has done.
12 Everyone was excited and confused. Some of them even kept asking each other, “What does all this mean?”
13 Others made fun of the LORD’S followers and said, “They are drunk.”
14 Peter stood with the eleven apostles and spoke in a loud and clear voice to the crowd:
Friends and everyone else living in Jerusalem, listen carefully to what I have to say! 15 You are wrong to think that these people are drunk. After all, it is only nine o’clock in the morning. 16 But this is what God had the prophet Joel say,
17 “When the last days come,
I will give my Spirit to everyone.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy.
Your young men will see visions,
and your old men will have dreams.
18 In those days I will give my Spirit to my servants,
to my servants, both men and women,
and they will prophesy.
19 I will work miracles in the sky above
and wonders on the earth below.
There will be blood and fire
and clouds of smoke.
20 The sun will turn dark,
and the moon will be as red as blood
before the great and wonderful day
of the Lord appears.
21 Then the Lord will save everyone
who asks for his help.”

Genesis 11
1 At first everyone spoke the same language, 2 but after some of them moved from the east and settled in Babylonia, 3-4 they said:
Let’s build a city with a tower that reaches to the sky! We’ll use hard bricks and tar instead of stone and mortar. We’ll become famous, and we won’t be scattered all over the world.
5 But when the LORD came down to look at the city and the tower, 6 he said:
These people are working together because they all speak the same language. This is just the beginning. Soon they will be able to do anything they want. 7 Come on! Let’s go down and confuse them by making them speak different languages – then they won’t be able to understand each other.
8-9 So the people had to stop building the city, because the LORD confused their language and scattered them all over the earth. That’s how the city of Babel got its name.

Romans 8
14 Only those people who are led by God’s Spirit are his children. 15 God’s Spirit doesn’t make us slaves who are afraid of him. Instead, we become his children and call him our Father. 16 God’s Spirit makes us sure that we are his children. 17 His Spirit lets us know that together with Christ we will be given what God has promised. We will also share in the glory of Christ, because we have suffered with him.

John 14
8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father. That is all we need.”
9 Jesus replied:
Philip, I have been with you for a long time. Don’t you know who I am? If you have seen me, you have seen the Father. How can you ask me to show you the Father? 10 Don’t you believe that I am one with the Father and that the Father is one with me? What I say isn’t said on my own. The Father who lives in me does these things.
11 Have faith in me when I say that the Father is one with me and that I am one with the Father. Or else have faith in me simply because of the things I do. 12 I tell you for certain that if you have faith in me, you will do the same things that I am doing. You will do even greater things, now that I am going back to the Father. 13 Ask me, and I will do whatever you ask. This way the Son will bring honour to the Father. 14 I will do whatever you ask me to do.
15 Jesus said to his disciples:
If you love me, you will do as I command. 16 Then I will ask the Father to send you the Holy Spirit who will help you and always be with you. 17 The Spirit will show you what is true. The people of this world cannot accept the Spirit, because they don’t see or know him. But you know the Spirit, who is with you and will keep on living in you.
25 I have told you these things while I am still with you. 26 But the Holy Spirit will come and help you, because the Father will send the Spirit to take my place. The Spirit will teach you everything and will remind you of what I said while I was with you.
27 I give you peace, the kind of peace that only I can give. It isn’t like the peace that this world can give. So don’t be worried or afraid.
