Audio message for Hillside Circuit on September 25th 2022, with Mrs Tokozile Makuyana.

Bible readings:

Psalm 91

1 Live under the protection of God Most High
and stay in the shadow of God All-Powerful.
2 Then you will say to the LORD,
“You are my fortress, my place of safety;
you are my God, and I trust you.”

3 The LORD will keep you safe from secret traps
and deadly diseases.
4 He will spread his wings over you and keep you secure.
His faithfulness is like a shield or a city wall.

5 You won’t need to worry about dangers at night
or arrows during the day.
6 And you won’t fear diseases that strike in the dark
or sudden disaster at noon.

14 The LORD says,
“If you love me and truly know who I am,
I will rescue you and keep you safe.
15 When you are in trouble, call out to me.
I will answer and be there to protect and honour you.
16 You will live a long life and see my saving power.”

Jeremiah 32

1 The LORD spoke to me in the tenth year that Zedekiah was king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year that Nebuchadnezzar was king of Babylonia. 2 At that time, the Babylonian army had surrounded Jerusalem, and I was in the prison at the courtyard of the palace guards. 3 Zedekiah had ordered me to be held there because I told everyone that the LORD had said:
[I am the LORD, and I am about to let the king of Babylonia conquer Jerusalem.]

6 Later, when I was in prison, the LORD said:
7 Jeremiah, your cousin Hanamel, the son of your uncle Shallum, will visit you. He must sell his field near the town of Anathoth, and because you are his nearest relative, you have the right and the responsibility to buy it and keep it in the family.

8 Hanamel came, just as the LORD had promised. And he said, “Please buy my field near Anathoth in the territory of the Benjamin tribe. You have the right to buy it, and if you do, it will stay in our family.”
The LORD had told me to buy it 9 from Hanamel, and so I did. The price was seventeen pieces of silver, and I weighed out the full amount on a scale. 10-11 I had two copies of the bill of sale written out, each containing all the details of our agreement. Some witnesses and I signed the official copy, which was folded and tied, before being sealed shut with hot wax. Then I gave Hanamel the silver. 12 And while he, the witnesses, and all the other Jews sitting in the courtyard were still watching, I gave both copies to Baruch son of Neriah.
13-14 I told Baruch that the LORD had said:
Take both copies of this bill of sale, one sealed shut and the other open, and put them in a clay jar so they will last a long time. 15 I am the LORD All-Powerful, the God of Israel, and I promise you that people will once again buy and sell houses, farms, and vineyards in this country.

1 Timothy 6

6 And religion does make your life rich, by making you content with what you have. 7 We didn’t bring anything into this world, and we won’t take anything with us when we leave. 8 So we should be satisfied just to have food and clothes. 9 People who want to be rich fall into all sorts of temptations and traps. They are caught by foolish and harmful desires that drag them down and destroy them. 10 The love of money causes all kinds of trouble. Some people want money so much that they have given up their faith and caused themselves a lot of pain.

11 Timothy, you belong to God, so keep away from all these evil things. Try your best to please God and to be like him. Be faithful, loving, dependable, and gentle. 12 Fight a good fight for the faith and claim eternal life. God offered it to you when you clearly told about your faith, while so many people listened. 13 Now I ask you to make a promise. Make it in the presence of God, who gives life to all, and in the presence of Jesus Christ, who openly told Pontius Pilate about his faith. 14 Promise to obey completely and fully all that you have been told until our Lord Jesus Christ returns.

15 The glorious God is the only Ruler,
the King of kings and Lord of lords.
At the time that God has already decided,
he will send Jesus Christ back again.

16 Only God lives forever!
And he lives in light that no one can come near.
No human has ever seen God or ever can see him.
God will be honoured,
and his power will last forever. Amen.

17 Warn the rich people of this world not to be proud or to trust in wealth that is easily lost. Tell them to have faith in God, who is rich and blesses us with everything we need to enjoy life. 18 Instruct them to do as many good deeds as they can and to help everyone. Remind the rich to be generous and share what they have. 19 This will lay a solid foundation for the future, so that they will know what true life is like.

Luke 16

19 There was once a rich man who wore expensive clothes and every day ate the best food. 20 But a poor beggar named Lazarus was brought to the gate of the rich man’s house. 21 He was happy just to eat the scraps that fell from the rich man’s table. His body was covered with sores, and dogs kept coming up to lick them. 22 The poor man died, and angels took him to the place of honour next to Abraham.
The rich man also died and was buried. 23 He went to hell and was suffering terribly. When he looked up and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side, 24 he said to Abraham, “Have pity on me! Send Lazarus to dip his finger in water and touch my tongue. I’m suffering terribly in this fire.”
25 Abraham answered, “My friend, remember that while you lived, you had everything good, and Lazarus had everything bad. Now he is happy, and you are in pain. 26 And besides, there is a deep ditch between us, and no one from either side can cross over.”
27 But the rich man said, “Abraham, then please send Lazarus to my father’s home. 28Let him warn my five brothers, so they won’t come to this horrible place.” 29 Abraham answered, “Your brothers can read what Moses and the prophets wrote. They should pay attention to that.”
30 Then the rich man said, “No, that’s not enough! If only someone from the dead would go to them, they would listen and turn to God.”
31 So Abraham said, “If they won’t pay attention to Moses and the prophets, they won’t listen even to someone who comes back from the dead.”

Text version of the Children’s Address for Hillside Circuit on September 25th 2022, with Ms S Sibanda:

Good morning children of God, welcome to our Sunday school service for today with Ms S Sibanda from Matopo.
Our theme today says: Using our wealth for the Kingdom. It comes from the following books, Jeremiah 32 v 1-3a, 6-15 then 1Timothy 6 v 6 to 19 and Luke 16 v 19 to 31.
Let us prepare our hearts to receive the word of God as we pray. Our heavenly Father we come before you this morning as your true followers. You are the creator ,the father and the owner of everything in this world. Bless your children as we pray for they have chosen to be your good sheep. Teach them father the respect and the truth that you want ,as they are at school now you may open their minds and eyes to see and keep what they are taught. Give them clever minds to know that the earthly wealth can come to an end at anytime , but God’s wealth is there for ever and even after death it is there for them. Our mighty God keep them safe in your holy arms now and forever AMEN.

From the book of Timothy the bible says love of money is the root of sins, it says so because if you have it you forget everything even the one who gave you the power to get it.
It is very difficult for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God ,for you cannot serve two masters at the same time, that is our riches and the kingdom of God. With the two its obvious you will take a side.
Then it depends on you to which master are you choosing to serve, remember there is a temporary master and a permanent master. You should mind when choosing because if you choose the temporary one, well know that your life will be temporary before and after death.
What will be your reward then? It is just as good as going to fetch water with a leaking bucket and you reach home with nothing. With a permanent master that is God the father we have everlasting riches. Do good works in front of the Lord, our master to serve, he will make you rich. Be a giver, somebody who shares not to be a receiver every time so that your life will be always perfect in the eyes of the lord.
In the book of Luke we are told about Lazarus and the rich man. Lazarus was sick and the rich man had everything that could help him but the rich man did not care, because he was keeping high concentration in his riches that ended him in suffering. Lazarus being the true man had spiritual riches that led him to a happy life in the hands of the Lord. It is good to be born in Christ, grow in Christ and die in Christ for there is a great reward.
Let us pray. God we thank you that you are our redeemer and our saviour ,save us to be your children who obey their parents now and forever. Father with your word the children are rich ,guide us in our earthly life for you are a good shepherd. AMEN.
